Day the Earth Stood Still
Sick always remember the day the earth stopped. It was as though the planetââ¬â¢s whole populace had planned against me to define the most unfavorable arrangement that would everlastingly transform me. Truth be told, it despite everything appears just yesterday Becky and I were strolling on the sea shore connected at the hip with that new relationship gleam in our eyes. We were consistently an extraordinary group. A current Bonnie and Clyde it appeared as. Be that as it may, as the idiom goes, things are never what they have all the earmarks of being. The first run through Becky and I considered each other a thing, it appeared to be strange in light of the fact that we had consistently grown up closest companions. We had never planned to be more than that yet in the wake of spending endless hours together, we started to understand that our fellowship began to form into something else. From the start, things were going truly well. She was in every case extremely inflexible about going through however much with me as could be expected, and we were in every case together. We would lounge around my home and watch films as we ate popcorn and acted like your regular youthful couple. The main distinction was this wasnââ¬â¢t infatuation to me, this was the genuine article. Sadly after about a year, things dynamically eased back down and our ââ¬Å"newlywedâ⬠tricks in the end vanished. Things just didnââ¬â¢t appear as energizing as they used to be. In spite of the fact that we despite everything hung out constantly, Becky began to float. Her calls turned out to be increasingly rare and her monotone voice gave an intelligible sign that she just didnââ¬â¢t feel the equivalent any longer. Indeed, even still, we attempted to battle through it and inevitably things showed signs of improvement. It was just a couple of months after the fact that our relationship turned sour once more. Regardless of how enthusiastically I attempted, my best was simply never adequate. Everything turned into a contention and it appeared as though Becky and I had gone from being completely good, to blending like oil and water. Itââ¬â¢s dismal to state, however I more likely than not been blinded by the entirety of the ââ¬Å"I love youâ⬠and ââ¬Å"youââ¬â¢re the just a single I ever need to be withâ⬠remarks since I turned out to be totally unaware of what was happening truly directly in front of me. One night, I concluded I would shock Becky at her home after she escaped work. My arrangement was to sneak through her window, light up a few candles all through her room, and set a sentimental pace for the night. I called her multiple times and unusually, she didnââ¬â¢t get. Becky consistently worked late as the head server at Hooters, and she would consistently appear at my home dead drained from working to such an extent. I figured she was most likely just truly occupied and wasnââ¬â¢t ready to answer her telephone. In any case, I concluded that I would go to her home about an hour preceding her escaping work to guarantee that I wouldnââ¬â¢t let her ruin the shock in the occasion she got back home early. I concluded that I would go in through the back passage of her complex, and park my vehicle behind her structure to abstain from being spotted. I pulled in and started searching for parking spots that Becky wouldnââ¬â¢t drive by. As I pulled around the left half of the three story white structure, I saw something very odd. Beckyââ¬â¢s vehicle was left in a visitor parking space. In addition to the fact that it was stopped in such a weird area, however it was perched on the direct inverse side of her condo. Thatââ¬â¢s when an inclination shot through my blood, and a voice inside me started to disclose to me that something wasnââ¬â¢t right. I started crawling close by the structure viewing all my means to ensure I didnââ¬â¢t make any clamor. I attempted to glance through her window however her blinds were down and the light was off. I strolled gradually to the front entryway and turned the brilliant handle. Iââ¬â¢ll always remember the sound of the entryway as I aired out it gradually. It was so uproarious and outright it appeared as though the nearby neighbors could have heard it. Fortunately for me however, no one did. I pussyfooted to the entryway and put my ear facing it, just to hear the sounds that any man would pay to never need to tune in to. I raged through the entryway just to discover Becky in bed with one of my collaborators who was likewise my closest companion. I remained there dumbfounded. I donââ¬â¢t believe that anybody can comprehend the inclination that goes through you when something to that effect occurs. Itââ¬â¢s less the real sight of it that truly caused me to feel like I had been dealt with so unjustifiably, it was the ââ¬Å"itââ¬â¢s not what it looks likeâ⬠and ââ¬Å"let me explainâ⬠remarks that did it. After I remained there with a grin that would have caused the fallen angel to recoil, I graciously pardoned myself, disclosed to them I was heartbroken, and strolled back to my vehicle. Strangely, it would have been significantly simpler to blast open the entryway, holler, shout, and truly let them know how unreasonably I had been treated by them two. In any case, what was the point? When I left, they would return to what they were doing and I would look like total nitwit. Rather, I chose to be the greater individual, change my number, and let Karma wrap up.

Spanish Missions In Texas Essays - San Antonio Missions,
Spanish Missions In Texas The Spanish Mission During the 1600s to 1700s, the Spanish were settling Texas. They did this by building missions and presidios all through the land. The design was to keep the French out and to change the Indians' lifestyles. A portion of these missions fizzled and some succeeded. With everything taken into account they were shut following quite a while of attempting to change the Indians. The principal crucial in Texas was Corpus Christi de la Ysleta. This crucial implicit 1682 and manufactured east of the present El Paso. Since it was out in the mountains and bowls district of Texas, the climate more likely than not been unforgiving. Clerics at this strategic been getting away from an Indian uprising in New Mexico. This strategic the main changeless European settlement worked in Texas. Around this time La Salle's stronghold had likewise been constructed. San Francisco de los Tejas is another of the main missions. It was the main crucial in East Texas. It was called Tejas in light of the fact that they had met Hasinai individuals along the Colorado River. The word Tejas implies companion. The Tejas crucial worked after the Spanish got some answers concerning La Salle's fortification. Tejas was worked out of logs, in contrast to a significant number of the missions. This was presumably so on the grounds that it was worked in the Piney Woods or Post Oak Belt subregion. Trees in these subregions are copious. Tejas had been expected for the Caddo clan. The Caddo were the most progressive clan and didn't require the food, assurance, or safe house the clerics advertised. Without the Caddo's help the strategic bombing extraordinarily. The Spanish government chose to quit financing cash for the mission. Before the ministers returned to Mexico, they covered the ringer and wanted to return one day. The Spanish chose to fabricate a settlement between New Spain and East Texas. It would be a halfway stop. They concluded it would be situated on the San Antonio River. San Jose was one of these settlements. It was made of limestone and was worked in 1720. An epithet it had was The Queen of Missions. Close by was San Antonio de Valero, or otherwise called the Alamo. It had carvings in the windows and the entryways that were confused and wonderful. The carvings were made when the limestone was simply uncovered. At the point when limestone is simply quarried it's moderately delicate. It solidifies with age and introduction to air. Numerous missions were based on the San Antonio River. Missions in East Texas were moved to the San Antonio. Some of them changed their names. San Jose was the best strategic that spot. It prompted the settlement of San Antonio later on. At the point when the Spanish fabricated missions to change the Indians they didn't understand all the work it would take. The French weren't generally an issue any longer. The Spanish government chose to shut down the missions since they required a great deal of time, work, and cash. The outcomes they got did not merit the difficulty. The missions that were coming up short were shut. The missions that were a triumph shut, despite the fact that they took the land for the missions and split it among the Indians that remained till the end. A few families that had predecessors at the missions despite everything live there today on the land their progenitors recieved. History Essays

The New SAT Reading in Focus ââ¬ÅEvidence Questionsââ¬Â
The Old When I tutored the old SAT, I heard a lot of complaints from my students about the reading sections. One recurring subject was the passage-based reading questions. These questions seemed ââ¬Å"subjective,â⬠students told me: the answers did not depend on concrete facts or skills, as for the writing (grammar) or mathematics sections, but instead on ââ¬Å"feelingsâ⬠or an emotional reaction to the passage. The New Although the situation with the old SAT was never as dire as it sometimes seemed (there were in fact skills that could help overcome even the most difficult reading passages), the new SAT has gone a long way towards bringing out into the open the logic that was lurking behind the scenes. You should see immediate benefits from the increased clarity of these new reading questions. Evidence-Based Reasoning: the ââ¬Å"Evidence Questionâ⬠One common new type of question characteristic of the revised SAT reading section is what you might call the ââ¬Å"evidence question.â⬠This sort of question follows a garden-variety interpretative question (ââ¬Å"Why . . . ?â⬠, ââ¬Å"What . . . ?â⬠, and so on), and is always phrased in the same way: ââ¬Å"Which choice provides the best evidence for the answer to the previous question?â⬠The answer choices are sentences from the passage, one of which will support the correct answer to the previous question. (See the SATââ¬â¢s practice tests for examples.) These question-pairs might seem to present new challenges, since taking one question the wrong way could lead to getting both wrong. But the benefits of the additional clarity outweigh the dangers. It was always necessary on the old SAT to find concrete pieces of evidence in the passage in order to support an answer choiceââ¬âthat is, the right answer always depended on finding a word, a sentence, or a set of sentences that could directly support it. The new SAT passage questions are no different in this regard, but with the ââ¬Å"evidence questions,â⬠they effectively split the process into two parts and make the reasoning explicit. Strategies for Approaching ââ¬Å"Evidenceâ⬠-Pair Questions The evidence-based question-pairs provide a nice opportunity to use the questions in tandem to work towards the right answers. One question provides a check on the other. So how can you most effectively exploit this fact? The process is simple: Determine whether a reading question has an ââ¬Å"evidence questionâ⬠twin. (Glance down the page.) Read the first question and underline or circle the key information. Determine your task. This is one of the most important parts of the strategy: if you start with the wrong task, then you might be lured into a pair of answers that agree with it but are responding to the wrong question. These answers will also be wrong! Resist the temptation to start from the ââ¬Å"evidence questionâ⬠: the passage references it offers are only helpful if you know what youââ¬â¢re looking for. Once you know your task in the first question, try to formulate an answer to yourself before looking at the answers that the SAT provides. This will help you avoid falling into any traps among them. Look at the answers to the first question now, and identify which answer(s) is the best. Find (without looking at the ââ¬Å"evidence questionâ⬠yet) a word, a line, or two lines, in the passage that support the answer that youââ¬â¢ve come up with. If you are left with two (or more) answers that both seem possible on the first go, note that only a correct answer will have a concrete piece of evidence in the passage in support of it. One of them is an impostor. Now look to the ââ¬Å"evidence question.â⬠Compare the line(s) that you used to support your answer to the first question with the answer choices to the ââ¬Å"evidence question.â⬠See if there is any overlap. Ideally, you will find that one of the choices agrees with your evidence from the first question. This is the answer. If you donââ¬â¢t find anything that agrees, troubleshoot with the following questions to yourself: 1) Did you get the task right in the first question? 2) Did you use faulty evidence on the first question? If you are still convinced that you got the task right, then you might have used faulty evidence in support of the answer you chose to the first question. That is, the evidence does not seamlessly match up what it is supposed to support. This is a good hint to rethink your answer to the first question and review the evidence of the passage. Applications to Solo Evidence-Based Questions Although we zoomed in on the evidence-based question pairs in this post, there are plenty of solo questions on the new SAT reading that can be approached in the same way. A distinctive mark of these kinds of evidence-based solo questions is that their answer choices will be ranges of lines or sentences. These solo-questions can be thought of as easier versions of the question-pairs: whereas for the pair-questions you have to determine the right answer first and then find evidence, the solo questions will give you a fact and then ask you to find evidence. This means that you donââ¬â¢t have to worry about figuring out the task, only backing up whatever theyââ¬â¢ve asked you to support. Just like for paired questions, you should start by finding the evidence on your own, and only then compare to the answers that they offer. Good luck! As for everything, practice makes perfect. If you want to translate theory into success, you need to work through passages and make sure you understand how it applies in practice. Start slow and give yourself time to become familiar with the approach. Once you are familiar with how they work, increase the pace until you are up to your normal test-taking speed. Good luck! High Class Beer And Low Class Fashion - 1297 Words
High Class Beer Sold In Low Class Fashion An advertisement can be a lot like a persuasive essay. A promoter wants their audience to buy their product much like a essay writer wants their audience to buy into their thesis. Just like an essay an advertisement has a criteria in which it must fulfill in order to achieve its goal. Certain things the creators do will either help entice the audience , or will deter the audience from ever looking at the ad again. The general public will see thousands of ads in a single day, but only a handful of them will ever standout and be memorable. When creating an ad for a magazine; some of the simplest mistakes can turn a great promotion into just another page. For an ad to be successful it must be bothâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦In the second layer, or the foreground of the ad there is a colored picture of Miller High Life. The picture of the product is on the right, and takes up the entire fourth quarter of the page. This image is what s cutting off the second woman in the photograph. Next there is very large text in the lower center of the page. The slogan is in entirely in capital letters, and is in bold and block-like font. In the lower-left corner of the ad there is an average sized, red and white Miller logo. To the right of the logo is another slogan, that is in cursive and regular sized font. Below that is another slogan in small font. This ad s visual design doesnââ¬â¢t work because there is too much for the reader to focus on in this ad. The creators hoped to use the contrast of the color product in the foreground of the black and white photograph to bring focus to the product. However, the exact opposite is what ensues. The black and white photo along with the large bold text in the lower center actually draws the audiences attention away from the product. The reader could look at this ad and not even notice the colored-in Miller High Life bottle. The colored product is also too large, and it ruins any symm etrical balance. Furthermore it is covering the second woman, and bringing her out of focus. This gives the reader the impression that she is not important. The audience will suffer the most from

Lack Of Meticulous Documentation And Positive Patient...
In the medical field there is an ââ¬Å"age old saying, ââ¬Å"if it is not documented in the medical record then it did not happenâ⬠the reality is, much happens that does not get documentedâ⬠(Crozer-Keystone Health System, 2009, Para. 1). The question is, without documentation in the medical record, is the record complete, accurate, and concise? This is the question that everyone is asking in regards to the court system, without documentation is it malpractice or should physicians be able to document what is only necessary information. In this paper, we will be discussing whether or not meticulous documentation and positive patient interactions deter a lawsuit; will correlating patient expectations with clinical outcomes and assisting in patient decision making also deter a lawsuit; and lastly, protecting the integrity of the medical record, will that also deter a lawsuit. A medical record, whether in a physical record or an electronic form is a legal document that sh ould ââ¬Å"reflect an accurate chronology of eventsâ⬠(Brous, E., 01 Feb., 2009, para. 2). Without exception, every entry must be dated with a year, time recorded with either am, pm, or in military time, and the medical record should be signed with a last name and the doctorââ¬â¢s status. Furthermore, the medical record should read like a book; as well as paint a picture of the patient so that others who reach the chart will know what the doctor saw and did to the patient. Business Mining and Metals Organization
Question: Discuss about theBusinessfor Mining and Metals Organization. Answer: Safety Issues faced by Employees in Rio Tinto Introduction Rio Tinto, the mining and metals organization in Australia has been gaining controversies around the globe regarding the employees that had been facing issues in health and safety. Although, the company states that the safety and health accounts for utmost priority but with according to annual reports and news, the company has been hiring casual labour hire that has been affecting job security and discouraging workers while bringing up the safety issues. The issues for the existing employees have been worsened, as they are not getting treatment as the new workers, which is directly affecting their health and safety (Hangemann 2015). Overall, the safety issues is a concern that is being raised by the employees and is indirectly impacting the production and the fear of leading to accidents due to sickening conditions of the employees (Nkosi 2015). Management Problem The health management problem highlighted in the report is due to the employees that are working in Rio Tinto (industriall-union.org 2015). As per the recent discussion, the health management problem in Rio Tinto is not only creating a degrading effect on the company but is also impacting the workforce of the company as raising a safety issue is a dangerous trend. This bad outcome for workers is not only bad for their health regarding being exposed to occupational disease or illness but also creates substantial impact on the wellbeing of the family as well as the organization (Scott and Grayson 2011). Research Question The research questions that highlight the research report can be given as: What is the perception of employees on the health and safety issues being faced in Rio Tinto? How worsening conditions of employees working in hazardous environments have been resulting on the level of production and performance of Rio Tinto? What are the possible challenges faced by Rio Tinto in the problem of health and safety management? Research Program The research program carried out in the research is based on quantitative as well as qualitative research based on the questionnaire that has been given to the employees of Rio Tinto. The questionnaire carried out incorporates questionnaire style of open ended as well as close-ended questions. The close-ended questions are based on five point Likert Scale whereas open-ended questions are unstructured in nature (Agumba 2014). On the other hand, a quantitative as well as qualitative study will be suited for the research in understanding the nature and outlook of the plight of the employees. The research holds positivism as well as interpretivism philosophy on the primary as well as secondary data respectively. Data Collection Method The data collection method is of two types that is primary and secondary method. However, the collection method undertaken in the research is primary data collection method to define systematically the decision making process (Zikmund et al. 2013). The primary data has been studied using the questionnaire strategy based on the data gathered from the employees. The primary data is the first hand research done as fresh in the research. Although, the study has been analysing 50 employees of Rio Tinto working as coal miners for quantitative research and analysing 5 senior employees for qualitative approach. Data Analysis The plan for the report is based on two methods that is quantitative and qualitative method. The research is based on 50 employees of the Rio Tinto based on primary and secondary data. The survey questionnaire will be distributed among the employees based on convenience sampling. However, the analyses undertaken holds to be important in evaluating a general viewpoint on the health and safety issues followed by qualitative research that will help the report in bringing out the impact of the health and safety management status of the organization. The quantitative results gathered will be studied using Excel on the Likert Scale (Khalid, Abdullah and Kumar 2012). Results and Findings The results and findings of the task can be evaluated based on the quantitative and qualitative questionnaire undertaken. Quantitative Approach Applied According to the questions, it has been seen that Rio Tinto has been differentiating between its hire of casual labour which is impacting the condition of the existing employees as given by the bar chart which shows that 14 of the 50 employees strongly agree for the distinction done at the workplace regarding health and management issues. Figure 1: Healthy and Safety Management Policies Source: (Created by Author) On the other hand, the management actions provided does create a stronger effect but remains negligible with the effects on the employees who are a part of Rio Tinto from a long time. The management actions are devoid of any motivation to the existing employees relating to safety issues. Figure 2: Management Actions Source: (Created by Author) Conversely, the challenge undertaken by Rio Tinto in providing effective policy largely has been affected employee whether in performance or production. There is lot of variability as the employees are not happy with the treatment given by the organization, Rio Tinto being one of the global market share in metal and mining company. Figure 3: Healthy and Safety Management Source: (Created by Author) Qualitative Approach Applied The qualitative study done of 5 employees have been undertaken on two questions. Firstly, the employees are of the view that health and safety policy provided by the organization is to meet the employees demand but due to influx of new employees, the attention has been shifted. Moreover, more skilled labourers in the mining industry; less preference would be given to years old employees as well. As a result, the employees are devoid of proper health and safety policies and continue to work as it is. One of the employees who is a new employee seems to be satisfied as he is given proper care with his family in event of accident or any safety related issue. Secondly, the possible challenges faced by Rio Tinto in event of health and safety management issues is that it may lose its old yet efficient workers. Moreover, there may be a strike against their operations. In addition, there loss of any worker due to health issue can deteriorate the production as well as the reputation of the company and can possible result in havoc. The competitors will have a fourfold advantage in hiring our workers from the field through additional money. Recommendations The possible recommendation for the study is that the methodology of the research carried out should be based on the large sample of employees, as this sample will not be able to justify the result. Moreover, the use of qualitative research in the questionnaire can give bias results as the employees might consult their responses. In additional, the use of unstructured interview can be a way in which the result can be beneficial (Walliman 2015). The management problem can be managed if the existing employees are also given proper advantage regarding the issue and no new employee is treated preferably with extra advantages. Moreover, all the employees needs to perform the task with efficient results in a way that in event of fatal accidents and occupational hazards, every employee should motivate and build confidence with others that will in a way will increase the production and the management will change the outlook of the existing employees (Ewekoro and Felix 2012). Conclusion To conclude, it can be said that the report highlight the management problem in the health and safety issues as there is differentiation created in the new casual labour hired with the motive of increase motivation. As a result the existing employees of Rio Tinto ate lacking motivation, support, guide to any issue, and are not being properly taken care of. The report carried the work on primary data collection method using qualitative and quantitative method. However, the research has future scope as it can be help in analysing the issue in depth.
